Advocating for Small Farmers

I am the granddaughter of female farmers who came to the United States with nothing and built lives for themselves and their families through farming. I am who I am today because of female farmers.

As a former banker, I want to connect farmers like my grandmother to opportunities and capital so they have access to the resources and technology they need to compete in this economy.

Stronger Gun Safety

As a mother, I am heartbroken at the countless mass shootings in this country, several of them right here in Florida. I am disgusted at the senseless gun violence that plagues our nation. We can no longer elect those who lack the courage to present common-sense gun policies and legislation that can address this nationwide crisis.

As Commissioner of Agriculture, I will ensure that all applications for concealed weapon carry licenses are thoroughly vetted before being issued and that those who evade these measures are held legally responsible.

Feeding our Communities

As Commissioner, I will introduce dedicated land zoned for community garden programs in cooperation with Florida counties. These programs will meet locals where they are, teach them to farm, and encourage local and home-based food production.

I will also continue Nikki Fried’s COVID school lunch initiative in conjunction with local school districts to ensure school children have access to healthy quality food when schools are closed.

Clean Energy

The climate crisis is real. It threatens our way of life, our economy, and our children’s future. Florida must invest in clean, renewable energy like solar and wind power. These clean alternatives will cut greenhouse gas emissions, protect our environment, and provide jobs for Floridians in rural and urban communities alike.

Decriminalizing Cannabis

I am running to fight for the decriminalization of marijuana and its removal as a Schedule 1 substance under the Controlled Substance Act. As a state, I believe we should move towards civil citations as an alternative to the mass incarceration of our Black and Brown communities for all possession of marijuana.

Building a Hemp Economy

The global industrial hemp market size was estimated at 4.13 billion in 2021 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.8% from 2022 to 2030. As Commissioner, I will ensure everyone has equitable access to the cultivation and licensing of hemp. As Agriculture Commissioner, I will ensure transparent processes for those who wish to apply and create programs focused on educating minority groups on the industry and opportunities for entrepreneurship.
